Jobs

Operator

Phones, calendars, invoices, inboxes. You keep a small business running properly, and you turn the recurring work into a process that does not need to be remembered.

Watch this first

Before the email, watch the pitch for this role. It is the same thing we would say on the call: what the work is, who it suits, and what happens after you apply.

Role video

What the Operator job actually looks like.

What a normal week holds, who the role suits, what it does not suit, and what the test actually measures.

Video coming shortly. The pitch for this role goes here: what the work looks like, who it suits, and how the test works.

02

What you'll actually be doing

You are the person behind the business. Four clients, each with an owner who has too much on their plate: calls that need answering, appointments that need booking and confirming, invoices that need chasing, and an inbox that has quietly become a pile of loose ends. You pick it up, you sort it out, and then you write down how it works so the next time it takes two steps instead of somebody's memory.

  • Answer the phone and route it: a booking, a quick answer, or a person who genuinely needs the owner.
  • Book appointments, confirm them, send the reminders, and refill a cancelled slot the same day instead of losing the week.
  • Chase unpaid invoices and silent vendors until they are resolved, against a list rather than from memory.
  • Triage the inbox: what needs the owner, what needs an answer today, and what needs nothing at all.
  • Keep the calendar honest — real travel time, real prep time, no two jobs booked over each other.
  • Write the process down for each recurring job, then template or automate the parts that never needed a person.
  • Flag the pattern: the same question from three customers a week is a website problem, not a phone problem.

Who this is for

Someone genuinely bothered by things falling through the cracks. You like a mess you can turn into an ordered list, you finish what you pick up without being reminded, and you can stay polite on the phone with someone who is annoyed with you.

Who this is not for

Someone who wants a creative role, or who treats admin as beneath them. This work is small and repeated; if that reads as dull rather than satisfying, do not apply.

Four clients, max
Every specialist holds at most four businesses at once. The cap is the job, not a perk: it is why the work is good.
From $997 a month
Base pay starts at $997 a month and rises with the work you hold and the clients you keep.
A senior above you
You report to someone who has done this role at this company, with the whole specialist team and the software behind you.

How to apply

One email, one role, and something you have actually made or done. That is the whole application. Nobody is reading for keywords.

What to send

  • The most complicated week of logistics you have personally held together, in five lines.
  • One process you built or fixed, and what it removed from the business.
  • A link to a checklist, spreadsheet or system you are willing to show.
  • One link to something you have actually made or done in this kind of work.
  • Your name and where you are based, so we know which hours you keep.

What not to send

  • No generic cover letter. If you want to write something, write it about this role.
  • No CV longer than one page. One page, or a link.
  • No list of tools you have used without saying what you built with them.
  • No second application. Applying to more than one role reads as applying to none.
  1. You email us. One email to jobs@doubleup.ai with the role name in the subject line. Applications open by email for now, and that address is the whole entry point.
  2. You get the test. Within two working days we send the practical test for the role you picked, with the brief and the tools you will need.
  3. You do the test. You take the time it asks for and send it back. The test is the whole interview: there is no panel and no second stage after it.
  4. You hear back. Roughly a week from the day you send the test in. Everyone who does the test hears back either way, yes or no.
Apply for this role by email

Applications open by email for now. The button opens a message to jobs@doubleup.ai with Operator already in the subject line — send it as it is, or write over the top of it.

06

The application test

The test is the whole interview: there is no second stage and no panel. You get a real, messy week from a real business and you work in the same tools you would use here.

What you are given

A messy week

A real inbox, calendar and unpaid invoice list from a business, along with what the owner said they wanted you to handle.

How long it takes

About two hours

Triage it, write the plan you would run from, and show the first process you would build.

What is measured

What you catch

Whether you spot the quiet problems, and whether your system would still be standing after a busy Monday.

Test content — coming shortly

The Operator test goes here.

The sample week, the owner's instructions, and the process we would want built from it. The test content is being written and will be published on this page.
