Jobs

Creator — Film

Concept, direction, edit, sound, captions, thumbnails. One good video, then cut into everything it has to live on.

Watch this first

Before the email, watch the pitch for this role. It is the same thing we would say on the call: what the work is, who it suits, and what happens after you apply.

Role video

What the Film job actually looks like.

What a normal week holds, who the role suits, what it does not suit, and what the test actually measures.

Video coming shortly. The pitch for this role goes here: what the work looks like, who it suits, and how the test works.

02

What you'll actually be doing

You make the video a business needs to sell something, end to end. That starts with a concept and a shot list, goes through a shoot with whatever camera is right for the job, and ends with a finished piece: graded, sounded, captioned, and cut into every shape it needs. There is no crew to book and no long approval chain. It is you, the brief and the deadline.

  • Take the brief and turn it into a concept: the hook, the structure, the thing the video is actually saying.
  • Direct the look — the light, the framing, the movement, and what the person on camera should be doing.
  • Shoot it: the product, the customer, the founder, or the thing that simply needs photographing properly.
  • Edit it: the cut, the pacing, the sound, the grade, and captions a person can actually read.
  • Cut one finished piece into fifteen — the square one, the vertical one, the six-second hook, the one for the site.
  • Make the thumbnails and the product photography that go with it, rather than treating those as a separate brief.
  • Ship on the deadline. A finished edit on Friday beats a perfect one nobody has seen.

Who this is for

Someone with taste who can also finish. You can make something good with the light in the room, you hear where the sound is wrong, and you hand over a cut that is done rather than one that is nearly done.

Who this is not for

Someone who needs a crew, a budget approval chain, or three weeks per edit. If a project without a producer feels impossible, this is the wrong job.

Yes. Full time, fully remote, US EST hours.

How to apply

One email, one role, and something you have actually made or done. That is the whole application. Nobody is reading for keywords.

What to send

  • One piece you made end to end, with your part clearly marked.
  • One thing you cut to fifteen seconds without losing the point.
  • A note on what you shot it on, and what you would do differently next time.
  • One link to something you have actually made or done in this kind of work.
  • Your name and where you are based, so we know which hours you keep.

What not to send

  • No generic cover letter. If you want to write something, write it about this role.
  • No CV longer than one page. One page, or a link.
  • No list of tools you have used without saying what you built with them.
  • No second application. Applying to more than one role reads as applying to none.
  1. You email us. One email to jobs@doubleup.ai with the role name in the subject line. Applications open by email for now, and that address is the whole entry point.
  2. You get the test. Within two working days we send the practical test for the role you picked, with the brief and the tools you will need.
  3. You do the test. You take the time it asks for and send it back. The test is the whole interview: there is no panel and no second stage after it.
  4. You hear back. Roughly a week from the day you send the test in. Everyone who does the test hears back either way, yes or no.
Apply for this role by email

Applications open by email for now. The button opens a message to jobs@doubleup.ai with Creator — Film already in the subject line — send it as it is, or write over the top of it.

06

The application test

The test is the whole interview: there is no second stage and no panel. You get a real brief and the footage for it, and you finish the job in the tools you would use here.

What you are given

A real brief

A product or a founder, one message to land, and the footage you are given to work with.

How long it takes

Three days

A finished 30-second cut, plus three variations for the places it has to live.

What is measured

Taste and finish

Whether the cut holds attention, and whether you sent something finished or something promised.

Test content — coming shortly

The Film test goes here.

The brief, the footage and the delivery spec we would hand over. The test content is being written and will be published on this page.
